Progress Update on the ‘Naut

I had a pretty busy Labor Day. The heat and humidity kept me indoors most of the day allowing some pretty significant strides in the progress of painting the ‘naut. The wife enjoyed her bad reality television with spurts of cleaning and baking, my daughter was playing dress up and serving me pretend meals, all while I slaved over the ‘naut. So far I would estimate a conservative total of 8 hours into the ‘naut so far with probably as many as 3-5 more to go. I’m not a fast painter, not an amazing painter, but I am sort of a perfectionist. If I can’t get it just the way I like it, I can’t move on. Here’s a short list of what I got done so far:

  • Shading/Weathering done on all the rivets.
  • Painted the black areas… black.
  • Painted almost all of the glyphs.
  • Almost finished with both of the main weapons.
  • Finished the Klaw of Mork.
  • Finished the head.
  • Finished weathering the under carriage. I love those technical paints!

Here’s what’s left to do:

  • Paint the Rokkits
  • Paint the KFF
  • Paint the crew
  • Highlight the head more.. haven’t really decided if I need it yet.
  • Highlight the nicks & dents on the hull
  • Paint the main ork glyph on the front of the hull.
  • Detail the hull. (lenses, horns, cables/hoses).
  • Attach it to the base.

So a long way to go. I’m really getting into this project and so far enjoying every step of it. Here is a mess of pics I took this morning. More to come as further progress is made.
