Converted Smasha Gun Ready for the Tabletop

Feeling a little burnt painting infantry and elites, I took a break and painted artillery. The Smasha Gun has become the darling of 8th edition Ork anti-armor and what little tabletop I have played, the Smasha Gun has earned it’s spot in my army. The randomness of Ork weapons has always appealed to me regardless of their competitiveness. There is just something fun about a weapon that can devastate or be absolutely garbage depending on the dice gods and the Smasha Gun scratches that itch for me.

This model is converted from a few kits and left over bits from my Traktor Kannon builds. The idea came from a blog post over on Watching Paint Dry and the results were awesome. Talk about a money-saving idea while making awesome alternative models. I made a few small tweaks but for the most part, I used their build as a template. I would highly suggest anyone looking to save a buck and field artillery made from 100% GW bits head on over to the linked article and give it a read.

It’s a shame that (as of the 8th edition Ork codex) Mek Gunz don’t take advantage of Klan Kultures but in all honesty I would have still painted them as Badmoons. There’s just something about that yellow and black flames. Next up will be the Grot crew but until then, I’ve posted a few pics over on Instagram and the r/Orks subreddit. Check out the below extended gallery of my work and let me know what you think.
