Before the fancy-pants new sculpt, I was rather fond the pewter and later resin finecast Painboy. So much so that I have 3 of them and a handful of Grot Orderlies. It’s ironic that I had never painted one of these old Painboy sculpts until now, but I did paint one of the new sculpts that a good friend gifted me. There’s nothing wrong with the new one and I do like the model, but there is just something about these old models that screams insane field medic. After finishing this one, I have 1 more to paint but outside of an Apocalypse game, I can’t imagine a list where I’d field more than 2 let alone the 4 total that I have. I’m fully aware that I’m a model hoarder and have an unnatural obsession with the old-hammer models.
